In San Diego cali. school there was a shooting with a 15 year old who killed 2 people and injured 13. Some say that he was smiling when he pulled the trigger. this event and many others have lead to the demand for stricter gun laws. however, gun laws punish honest citizens.
Increase gun laws Have you had a dream, that you were shot? When you awoke you are elated and realized that all was a hallucination. There have been recent mass shootings in the world and many people’s lives were put in jeopardy. Yet, the United States has constantly failed to set gun control laws to protect people. I strongly believed that the Government should increase gun laws, and maximize the limits of owning a gun.
The U.S. is in dire need of stricter gun control laws. Many citizens would refute this claim, however, not the majority. In fact, the large majority of United States citizens are in agreement that stricter gun control is needed (Spitzer). Why then are so few gun control bills passed into law? The answer is influence, and perhaps even more so passion.
With so many shootings arising these days, many people wonder whether handguns should be banned or not. Some people say it is a part of American history and that they would not be here today without guns. While others believe that the country would be more peaceful and safe if the guns were illegal. The problems that come with banning guns are endless and could possibly cause many more problems than necessary or intended. Having a handgun is a way of protection and self defense.
Criminals don’t follow laws. Gun control laws are more oppressive on citizens than criminals, which is literally someone who has broken, or is breaking, a law. Why are some gun control laws and rulings so heavily pushed? Especially considering that the majority of these laws have very little actual basis aside from the “guns are scary and bad” train of thought. This is going to be going into why most of these laws, current, and proposed, make no sense such as the Magazine Capacity bans that some states are putting in place, the entirety of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), and the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban(AWB).
Gun violence currently now at an all-time high. What do you think should do about it? Currently, tensions are rising between both sides of the topic of gun control. If you don't know what gun control is, it is a set of laws that'll regulate the manufacture and sales that go along with guns. I'd say, due to the examples provided of evidence in other countries that have stricter gun laws, that we shall be more restrictive guns, but still allow the citizens of the right to self-defense.
In our society, there is a constant battle between political parties and ideologies on what to do regarding gun rights. The argument is whether to maintain the gun laws we have or pass further gun restrictions. I don’t know why this is hard for some people to understand. Criminals, by definition, are people who commit crimes. If criminals do not follow the laws we have now, they will disregard any further restrictions.
A term often used in modern debates about firearms is “law-abiding citizen”. While “law-abiding” means “abiding by or obedient to the law” according to Merriam-Webster, it also carries the connotation that said citizen poses no outward threat to the other inhabitants of this wonderful country. However, with guns on both sides of the issue, both saving lives and taking them, their proliferation throughout American society raises concerns about where to draw the line with regards to gun control legislation. With Time citing over 30,000 deaths due to gun violence a year, legislation must be effective in order to reduce such a startling number (Hale 1).
Gun control laws have become too much. There are too many gun control laws in the United States. Laws are not going to scare criminals who have a past record or are set on hurting people. Firearms can protect people that have valuable items on them or in their house. There is becoming less criminal with the more purchases or weapons.
When I was seven years old, I spent my christmas with my grandmother in Gary Indiana. After we were done eating Christmas dinner, I opened my last present. It was a stuffed animal dog. I went to bed clinging on to my stuffed animal with a smile on my face. I was aroused the next morning with three loud bangs coming from outside.
Once and again, the issue about gun laws continues to be the top debate for the past decade or so whether to regulate or not regulate gun control. Many issues that citizens and lawmakers relay is that guns do more harm than good and others say that it is for the protection of citizens. With all the mass shootings that have happened it makes the people including myself rethink that we should have some sort of gun regulations to prevent it. However, others say it doesn’t stop another person from finding new ways to harm others. Maybe the constitution was written for the American people to have guns were for the government to call them to war when things get dire.
Gun control laws regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians. In addition, these laws also regulate the types of guns that may be owned, waiting periods required for purchase, and classification of persons who are prohibited from owning firearms. There are many countries with restrictive firearm guiding policy, with only a few laws being considered as tolerant. The Second Amendment of 1789 (revised in 1992) states “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. Police powers are those reserved to the State under the Tenth Amendment.
Over the course of many years, Gun Control has been the issue of debate for many people. Some say "Yes, let's ban all guns!" While others say "No way, you can’t take all the weapons away from me!" Furthermore, we have those in the middle, who want more control, but don't want guns taken away completely.
People are smart and will find a way to get around the law if one is created to ban guns. People have done this with the topic of drugs; since drugs are illegal, people have resorted to get high off of new legal substances like sharpies. Using this as an example of what people do to get around the law will help prove that if guns are banned, people would create a new way of harming someone. This new harmful invention could potentially become worse that using a gun ever was. These examples go back to how the guns don’t decide if they want to kill a person, they don’t have a brain; it is the people behind the gun pulling the trigger deciding that they want to commit an illegal and harmful act upon another human being or living animal (Larry Greenemeier).
Why would the government let people walk around with guns? I wonder if stronger gun laws would really slow down all the deaths? Maybe gun laws won't stop people from getting guns? Theres two types of people with guns. There are people that carry guns just for their safety, and there's also people like gang members or just ignorant people.
