Their mission statement
Mission statements are an important part of business. They communicate a company’s purpose, and who they want to be in their industry. Grant Thornton is a global audit, tax and advisory firm. According to Grant Thornton’s (n.d) website, their mission statement is “To make a difference to our colleagues, our clients, our profession and our communities.” (Mission, Vision, Values, para. 1).
PepsiCo existing mission statement A mission statement is the brief description of a company’s fundamental purpose (Verma, 2009, p. 153). It determines where the organization is going and tells what the company is presently. It informs the desired level of performance. “Our mission is to be the worlds’ premier consumer products’ company focused on convenient foods and beverages. We seek to produce financial rewards to investors as we provide opportunities for growth and enrichment to our employee, our business partners and the communities in which we operate.
Our mission for CMI is to educate,train,and inspire the Cadet Corps so that every cadet becomes a recognized leader of character and that they are dedicated to the values of honor,courage, and commitment. They should be prepared for a career of service to the community and country. The mission for the Perris Union High School District is to provide educational programs and opportunities which gives intelligence, social, emotional, and physical aspects for all students that are in the district and are able to become productive members of our society. The mission statement is also to create high quality learning opportunities.
These authors tell us that a mission statement should be a written account of the reason an organization exists, with its’ distinct purpose. While mission statements are broad statements that endure over time they are more concrete than a vision statement and “not an expression of hope” (p. 168). It shows how an organization fits into a specific environment and distinguishes it from other organizations of its type. It identifies the scope of operations based on who the primary stakeholders are, what business they are in and what service they will provide. “The mission provides direction” (Ginter et al., p. 173) and must be the basis for decision-making about the future of the organization.
A mission statement “describes the firm’s product, market, and technological areas of emphasis, and it does so in a way that reflects the values and priorities of the firm’s strategic decision makers.” (Pearce & Robinson, 2015, pg.23). In order to fulfill a strong statement, it is helpful to follow the steps in formulating a mission statement, which I will include in my first strategy. Finding the right mission statement will serve as a guide for all short and long term decisions, for it follows the company’s ultimate beliefs, desires, and aspirations. Although there is no clear mission statement for Blue Bell, they have come up with several slogans such as: • Blue Bell’s the best ice cream in the country.
According to our text, the mission statement is formulated to define the purpose of an organization (Parnell, 2014). TRICOR’s mission is simply stated, clear and concise. As an employee of TRICOR, I can honestly say that the mission statement is easy to remember. When all else fails, it is often referred to as energy for the employees of the organization.
A mission statement describes the purpose for the company and its target market. The mission statement is used to guide the company and motivate employees. It talks about how the company will get where it wants to be and it defines the goals relating to customers’ needs and team values. The Alzheimer’s Association mission statement is, “To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.”.
Jones Plastic and Engineering’s mission statement is “To achieve Customer and Shareholder satisfaction by providing a safe work environment for our employees, as well as the tools and training they need to meet the company expectations in Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, Services and Innovation (E. Hicks, personal communication, April 8, 2016). Most people in the organization do not know what our mission statement is or why it was written. In my attempts to get an answer from Corporate, the only answer I got was that the CEO was bugged so much until it was finally written. It is basically what we want to achieve in business (C. According to my understanding to the concept of mission is related to a organization’s purpose and concerning the company website reflects to some extent the mission statement from the “company" category . Where I can understand through my reading to what is stated in the company website shows the mission statements in the same purpose. It clearly defines markets to be served and how they are to be served. The mission statement also gives the intended direction of the organization as a whole. The vision statement tells where the organization or company wants to go (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). This statement clearly states

It relates to the purpose of the company and what they want to achieve in the future. The mission goes beyond the vision as it explains the company’s goals and objectives more clearly. It also mentions how this will be accomplished. The last step is to create a strategy based on the defined vision and mission. (Miller, 2014) Tesla’s mission is ‘to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport by bringing compelling mass market electric cars to market as soon as possible’.
