I picked a Republic Manufacturing for my assignment because of the impressive array of products it manufactures to be used in almost every industry. The company started as a sheet metal company in the 1950’s and has evolved, adapted and increased its manufacturing capacity. Today it has an international presence. From sheet metal manufacturing it became a great company. “Visionary companies make some of their best moves by experimentation, trial and error, opportunism, and—quite literally—accident. What looks in retrospect like brilliant foresight and preplanning was often the result of “Let’s just try a lot of stuff and keep what works.” (Collins, 1997)
Going to the home page of the company’s website, I noticed the mission of the company was clearly stated.
“Republic Manufacturing services the industrial manufacturing industry by providing high quality solutions utilizing air movement technologies. Committed to quality and innovation, the company is progressive and energetic in its search for unique solutions to challenging problems. Republic strives to be market leaders in the air movement technology industry, and generates an annual profit to be reinvested for growth and to provide competitive salaries and benefits for employees.”

“Committed to quality and innovation, the company is progressive and energetic in its search for unique solutions to challenging problems.” According to Rarick and Vitton (1995), “who report high- content mission statement companies have an average return of 26.2% versus those with low content who report an average return of only 13.7%.” This company absolutely has a high-content mission
