Common Core Repeal and Education Reformation It is no secret that America has seemed to fallen behind in education globally while other nations are rising to become the hub of technology. To counter the falling education level, the government set up Common Core to ‘level’ the playing field of children’s education. Although education is a state’s right, most state’s decided that Common Core would help rise the opportunity for children to receive the same type of education standards nationally. Some states opted out of the testing foreseeing the federal overreach and red tape. The new policy would go back to the standard of four years of reading, math, social studies, and science that prepare the students for the SAT and ACT since that is the true college readiness test schools look at besides GPA and class rank. By modeling the test around what colleges are looking for, the students are exposed to the subject matter before getting to the real test which prepares them for college-readiness. Elementary and junior high schools would focus preparing the students in the basis of each subject and teaching tips and tricks while high school classes would focus in depth. Schools do try to do this now, but through the years of school, children often forget simple algebraic expression that are portions of the test. This would call for a simple review test of each subject that would give the students a refresher while providing schools with how their students measure on the real SAT. This would give the districts a better idea of what needs to be covered better in each subject and offer students before or after school review in the subject. By giving each state a block grant, the money can be allocated to where the schools are doing poorly academically or socially. This would help the poorer schools with enacting programs against gangs
