My Leadership Philosophy

Leadership to me is the ability to lead others as a single unit or community, to accomplish a task in the most efficient and effective way possible. Throughout history leadership has been instilled and can be implied practically anywhere and everywhere, from military leadership to businesses, there will always be a need for those who can lead others. Most people aren't born to be great leaders; they are made. What I’ve noticed that most famous leaders have in common, such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Winston Churchill, is that they’ve obtained a remarkable ability to remain focused, confident, positive, and empowered. To me these are the fundamentals that revolve around leadership that I as well try to apply whenever presented a position that requires command. Focusing as a leader is a challenging task, especially when being constantly bombarded with obstacles. Keeping the overall goal in mind is always an effective way to remain focused. People won't always agree with each other or work well as a team, so as a leader identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your subordinates creates a bond that when put together in the right combination forms an overachieving team. Everyone has something that they're good at so when a leader applies their skills in the right combination they begin to function as a single unit that can overcome any obstacle thrown their way. Delegation correlates with empowerment as a leader. Assigning specific tasks to the team members that they are capable of accomplishing leads to empowerment. Having trust in the abilities to each team member to perform even when authority is not present gives the subordinates a sense of empowerment for being entrusted with
