People’s actions, thoughts and feelings, and the reasoning behind this behaviour captivates me. From the cognitive influences to social aspects impacting behaviour. The range of scientific explanations and theories intrigues me. Studying Psychology has given me the opportunity to expand on this interest, by looking into a variety of areas, whether it be Baron-Cohen’s study of autism, to Milgram’s study of obedience. Through doing Psychology I have been able to develop a range of skills. Designing my own research has enabled me to improve my creativity and sensitivity with regards to ethics and morals in society. I helped out for the Psychology Open Evening for prospective students, explaining and discussing what the course entailed. I gained valuable communication skills from this event and I was able to share my passion of Psychology with the future students. I also attended the Behind Bars conference, which broadened my understanding of the criminal justice system and the mentality of criminals, which is a particular interest of mine. These experiences will then aid me in my studies in my second year of studying Psychology. Biology has improved my literacy skills when writing essays on a topic. Using key information and scientific terminology, I was able to explain a concept in a coherent way. I can transfer this technique to Psychology when describing a theory behind someone's behaviour or when creating and analysing research. Studying Maths has helped me develop my numeracy skills and additionally enabled me to enhance my problem solving technique. Using my time wisely I am able to analyse and solve multiple problems by interpreting data given to me. This is extremely useful in Psychology as I can evaluate statistics from studies to achieve a better understanding of the results. Experiments in Chemistry have allowed me to advance my practical techniques by using technical equipment. I am able to solve any problems by examining the data through independent research,

I have always enjoyed the challenges of learning new things and have found Physics and Mathematics both stimulating and interesting, but have always known that my true passion is Chemistry; with its endless variation and multitude of applications its limits are only those that we cannot yet explain or have not yet thought of.
