Animal Rights and Experimentation When people go to the store to acquire make-up, shampoo, or any other type of cosmetic item, they don’t even take a second glance to see how it was tested or who it was tested on. Millions and millions of animals such as rats, mice, cats, prime apes, and dogs are used every year for scientific testing. They deteriorate in discomfort, loneliness, and suffer with torture ("Animal Testing 101"). Animal experimentation should be abolished, because it is unsafe and inhumane for animals and can be scientifically avoided. The issue with animal testing is that it is cruel and diabolical, drugs that pass animal tests are not positively safe, and there is alternative testing that can replace the need for animals. Furthermore this essay will explain why animals have the right not to be used as experiments. Animal testing is immensely cruel and barbarous. Opponents of animal testing say that there is no adequate alternative to testing on a living, whole-body system. Though they may be true on a certain level, animals have different DNA and in some cases they are immune to some types of drugs while humans aren’t. In addition there are actually a few of alternatives for testing that will help with more accurate results. There is an artificial product called EpiDerm, and ThinCert that is a sheet made of human skin cells that can produce more effective results than testing chemicals on animal skin.
