In America, many people finish high school then go off to college and pay between $45,000 and $50,000 for a four-year education. But that is not the case for most college athletes. They will get what's called the “free ride” that’s when the $50,000 is paid for. This includes free meals, a dorm room, and school text book’s which cost a lot of money. Athletes also receive academic counselling, free tutoring, and even free life skill training. Beyond that student-athletes also receive free professional coaching and physical therapists. All this coaching, life skills, counselling, tutoring and physical therapist would cost $3,000 a week, College student athletes are privileged enough that is why they shouldn't be paid.

Student athletes can’t receive professional perks for example sponsorship deal from Nike and being paid from the sponsor to wear Nike shoes or clothing, so why should the colleges pay the athletes for playing, If we start to pay college athletes it will affect other parts of the colleges for the reason that budget cuts will have to happen to be able to pay the athletes. if we decide to pay college athletes there is no way to be fair when paying student athletes, because do you pay all the players the same amount of money or do you create an open market-based system. An open market-based system would allow supply and demand to come in to play which would allow colleges to pay players on their playing abilities. This would change the way college athletes make their decisions on where they will choose to go, because they go where more of the money is, this would change the way high school kids would select where they
