Student athletes should be paid for there services in college programs because in sports likefootball basketball and etc these athletes are putting there blood sweat and tears into thesesports and putting there bodys on the line each day. Also these student athletes bring in a largeamount of money. According to Journalist Michael Wilbon NCAA Division I schools with dataavailable generated a total of 1.72 Million Dollars.Being a college student athlete is almost like a full time job between the weight room, thebasketball court field, classes, and then film sessions. Even thp many of these athletes are onscholarship most of these athletes cannot live off of what they are earning.These universities are making tons of money because of the athletes . If college athletes werepaid that would make them even more motivated to stay in school and also decrease thecollege dropout rate. If they knew they were getting paid for their abilities they might be morewilling to get their degree. Just in case the sports might not work out for them they will havesomething to fall back on and head in the right direction.Another reason why student athletes should be paid because most of these athletes would besupporting their families. These players would be able to support members in their families andafford these they usually couldn't buy. Also feel like that these players grades would even bebetter because athletes would be more motivated to stay on the team and not flunk off the teamso they will try harder to get better grades.So with saying that I feel like students athletes should be paid because of the time and hoursthey spend on the sport and the amount of money they generate to the programs and they willbe financially stable those are some of the few reasons why i feel like college athletes should bepaid for their services in college
