The reason I am going to school to become a teacher, and why I want to be a teacher is to make a difference in children's lives so they become an extraordinary person that they are. Teaching is not just about making sure the kids learn certain things, it so the child feels cared for. The child should feel that their teacher wants them to exceed in life and know that they can do it.
The purpose of education is to build a foundation for the child through K-12 and beyond. Students will learn life lessons and have the knowledge to live in the outside world once they are done with their education. The purpose of education is also for a student to have a safe place to go to; and to feel loved and cared for throughout the years from other students, teachers, and staff.
Children learn best by the philosophy of progressivism. Progressivism is an idea that is tested by experimentation and rooted in questions. Education should focus on the child and on their needs and interests. Schools should help the students develop their own social and personal values; so they become productive citizens based on their experiences. …show more content…

Learning begins with inspiration and motivation; conducted by our experiences in life. A teacher must be enthusiastic to get the students attention; so that they are able to listen and learn. If the classroom is well put together and organized, that too can make a difference on how the child learns in class. In elementary the students desks should be in groups so they are able to sit by and learn from each other. There should be discussions throughout class with each other, in every grade level.
