Teaching Philosophy Statement

You want to be a teacher? You know how little the pay is, right? You want to be a teacher just to have summers off? You haven’t had enough school already? I have been asked these questions by my peers, elders, and some family members. To answer all these questions in one would be, I do want to be a teacher because it is about getting the next generation to take on the world and make it a better place. Teaching is not nearly as much about the teacher then it is about the students. There are many things that go into being a teacher, it is not “just a easy job that gets the summers off”. I believe it to be one of the most important jobs because of how teachers influence their students to follow their dreams and change the world one step at a time. I have also been asked questions by my parents and teachers through the years. Some of those questions included; what motivates you, how do you feel about education, when you become a teacher how will you implement certain things in your classroom?
My motivation for teaching comes from a few different aspects of my life; my personal love for teaching, my family, friends, and the students. I have always wanted to have a career that I could help people, I first thought nursing was my calling and then I discovered I can’t handle needles or blood. I do believe that teachers are one of the most important jobs and do not take that lightly. I know I will have to put in a lot of work and I also know that it will all pay off when I have the children moving on to the next grade with their wonderful minds full of knowledge. I want to always be pushing myself to be better; make the lesson more diverse, have better activities, know how to get all students involved, etc… I want to always have an open mind and remember I am never going to be done learning, my students can educate me
