Marijuana and Hashish commonly called “pot” or “grass”, marijuana is produced from the leave of Cannabis sativa. Hashish is a concentrated form of cannabis made from unadulterated resin from the female plant. The main active ingredient in both marijuana and hashish is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a mild hallucinogen. Marijuana is a drug commonly used by teenagers. Marijuana is not physically addicting, but its long-term effects have been the subject of much debate. However, the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes has long been at the Centre of much controversy. The part of our society that says marijuana should be legal in the United States has many followers. Some are not marijuana for medical reasons alone. They want it to be legal for all citizens. For them to be able to make it legal for everyone they must start paving the road for medical patients. There are pro medical marijuana people also claim that marijuana consumers are not a danger to society, that there is no crime committed by the marijuana users. They also contend that marijuana causes no bad side effects like killing brain cells, causing craziness, or defects at birth. This part of society has very strong feelings when it comes to legalizing marijuana. They may not all participate in the consumption of this drug and they still have valid points when it comes to the legalization marijuana. Along with doctors and society there are the state level laws. There are 15 states at this time that have written laws for medical marijuana use other than Michigan. Each individual state that has made medical marijuana legal makes their own laws and rules in order to become a medical patient for the use of marijuana.
