Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has influenced me in many ways. First, it was the school's amazing nursing program. The school of nursing was established in 1953 and it awards undergraduates the bachelor of science degree. WSSU’s nursing program was ranked number 3 in the nation, and is continuing to grow and enhance the program. I have been given the chance to get into the nursing program, with the help from the Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP).
I began my education at Stephen F. Austin State University, which was founded as a teacher’s college in 1923. That is why I chose SFASU because I wanted to teach children, plus I wanted to concentrate on teaching them to read. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education and Generic Special Education in 1985. I concentrated on working with the at-risk population and began my journey as an educator in January 1986. I quickly realized that I had a thirst for knowledge and set a goal to continue my education until one day I would receive my doctorate in education.
Single Parent to Graduate Student Enrolling in Northcentral University, NCU to obtain my graduate degree in education is one of accomplishment and a new beginning to a new career. I have always had a passion for indifference, injustice, and making a difference. I have an associate’s degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in Human and Family Services. I went from having a degree in computer science to a human service degree because of a family tragedy that made me evaluate my purpose in life as an individual. I am currently a case manager with a mental health/mental retardation organization and a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer.
After graduating high school, continuing my education was and will always be important to me. Fast forward to today, I’m going to be graduating in Spring 2017 with my Associates Degree so my aspiration is to continue and finish my education at New Jersey City University. A bachelor’s degree at NJCU for business management is my motivation because this college is in the 2017 edition of Best Colleges in Regional Universities North. Academically, I am convinced that NJCU is a place to spend my next two years gaining more knowledge and growing. It’s not only about getting a degree
As I anticipate my future with NSCS, I can predict that the outcome will be positive. Prospectively, the most important thing I can accomplish from NSCS is leadership. Leadership is having integrity and showing versatility in communities, work environment, school and home. It also extends beyond having influence on others and in fact it is a characteristic not possess by everyone. However, it is achievable and with consistent effort, knowledge and most importantly confidence; leadership and success will be attainable.
While I was searching for colleges during my senior year, Arizona State University was the first college that caught my attention. My sister, Ranine is currently a junior at ASU and has loved it ever since she stepped foot on campus. Her love for ASU greatly encouraged me to look further into attending ASU. After going on the campus tour and speaking to students, I officially decided that I wanted to be a Sun Devil. Choosing a major was hard for me because I struggled between wanted to major in psychology, getting on the path to be an orthodontist, or attending W.P Carey School of Business.
When I start my higher education at WSU, I will be pursuing a degree in International Business. Several factors have led to this decision. One of them is my love for travel. It has always been my dream to explore the world and connect with different cultures. I also want to create more connections with people and communities, and through business, I will be able to.
I believe as a returning student to ISU, I had a unique experience in the class. I graduated with a degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services in May and decided that teaching was my true passion so I returned to Iowa State to begin earning that degree. I have worked for about four years for United Community Schools as a Lead Childcare Associate and as a Substitute Associate in both preschool and special education. Additionally, I have spent time as a Special Education Associate in Ankeny and have volunteered in Ames Community School District Classrooms. With my experience, I have spent a lot of time in schools and in classrooms.
A goal of mine is to become a(n) preschool teacher. I love being around children and I would like to be an influence on them. Teaching is not for everyone, but I would be honored to be a part of it. SCSU can help me accomplish my goal by giving the the opportunity to learn there. I have read that they have an excellent education program.
I am an adult undergraduate whom would love the opportunity to complete a degree program at Colorado Christian University. I was raised in a large Catholic family with two uneducated parents who did not know how to lead their children in the way of education nor could they afford to put seven kids through school. They gave us religious values in which I am very grateful. As a young adult I had learned the value of education and tried to pursue a college education but was unable to complete this task. , In 1994, I was married and had two children.
There are many things that I’m looking forward to in this next year. This includes my academic interests, career objective, and some SDSU activities. My academic interests would be to go into either Interior Design or Animal Science. I haven’t fully decided which one I will go into, but I know that SDSU will be able to help me narrow this down. I’ve chosen these two careers because they seemed interesting to me.
I graduated from CSUF with a BA in History and American Studies in May of 2015. I knew that I immediately wanted to continue my education and get my MA in History. However, my immediate career goals had nothing to do with teaching, but instead I found myself interested in working in a public history career such as museum or documentary work. Even though I graduated from CSUF, that wasn’t the only reason I decided to continue my education there. One of the most important factors in my decision was that CSUF is one of the very few universities in the state that offered a public history concentration.
Everything SMU offers appeals to me, but a few aspects especially stand out. The Cox School of Business has captivated me—the thought of studying business in a prestigious school in Dallas, one of the top cities for jobs in the nation, makes me excited about my future. Although many other schools offer a great location or a successful business school, few provide both to students. SMU’s ideal location allows business students a unique opportunity to be only minutes away from internships and jobs in Dallas. Also, I grew up in a community like Highland Park, so SMU’s location already gives me a sense of comfort and home.
As someone who’s been lucky enough to travel the globe, I understand the need for a strong health sector. Seeing the difference in the livelihood of people around the world, the differences in rich and poor, children and adults, is an eye-opening experience. Without someone to manage our health equipment and resources, there will be high mortality and burden of disease. In addition, I’m interested in pursuing a career in the health sciences and I’d like to go to dental school in the future.
This highlighted the individuality of the profession and increased my passion for pursuing this career. I’ve completed a total of 12 weeks work experience as well as volunteering locally and in Pakistan gaining an insight into more specialised areas of Dentistry. Achievements in my life so far include, attaining excellent GCSE grades; been awarded prefect status and been captain of the school cricket team; achieved bronze at Duke of Edinburgh Awards and participating in the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge, placing second place in my school. This shows I have been building my character in a positive and sustainable manner, constantly aspiring to take a leading position and to work as a team. Building confidence through public speaking and studying multiple languages allows me to be patient, thinking rationally before acting and being decisive.
