Being able to elaborately study all the sciences along with the overall concept of the program being oriented around “hands on” experience and collaborative group work excites me. Most of my free time is spent finding answers to my burning questions like, “The world without humans”, watching Ted Ed videos and reading articles. With this program I will be using my curiosity within the curriculum to find my own answers or to come up with strategies in finding a possible answer. Academically, being able to continuously gain firsthand experience by working in labs will help my understanding of the concepts. Personally, learning how mitosis works by reading a textbook is not as beneficial or valuable as observing the cells undergoing the process …show more content…

However, one cannot be a successful scientist without passion for their subject matter, and I believe my strongest trait is my passion. The advancements made in the science world for the benefit of mankind has always fascinated me and inspired my interest. With such a deep love for my subject, I will be motivated to devote my time and energy into souring for answers or paths to lead towards them. My admiration for science would allow me to be a strong advocate in educating and spreading awareness about the beauty behind it and the regular advancements. In addition, with my devotion and love for this subject, I will enjoy the long hours and constant commitment without getting fatigued with my work. Discovering revolutionary solutions requires a thousand attempts and a thousand failures, however I will be able to persevere through these failures and continue striving until I reach my goal. Personally, I was thrilled about this challenging task however, some group members felt intimidated by the challenge and lacked motivation and interest. To ensure group success, I divided the project up into smaller portions and distributed the responsibilities based on interests and skill level. This increased their confidence allowing them to openly discuss and share ideas while being driven and focused. From this experience, I have learnt the importance of understanding how the group feels prior to starting a project and keeping everyone engaged. Contrary to this experience, while volunteering at the library, our supervisor was unable to attend one of our events. Another staff member who was filling in, was unaware of the event or the process. Instead of panicking, my team collaborated effectively by discussing ideas and taking on responsibilities respective to their areas of expertise. With our amazing teamwork and group effort, the event ran smoothly. From this experience, I learnt the importance of everyone being united towards the team goal and taking initiative to solve problems
