Teaching Philosophy Statement

There are many ways to teach students what they need to be learning in school. You can be one kind or a mixture of the types. There are five different types and they are; perennialism, progressivism, behaviorism, essentialism and social reconstructionism. My personal favorite way of teaching/learning is the progressivism way. I personally believe that children learn best when they are in an environment they feel safe in, relaxed, welcomed and a positive place. I want my future classroom to be based on those and I think my students will have a great learning atmosphere. I do want my students to have different learning experiences as well. By this I mean, not standing in front of the classroom, giving a lesson, then they take a test on the information or do a worksheet. I want my students to be engaged in what is going on, be creative, be social with their peers and wanting to ask questions. I think the best way to do this is to have a little questionnaire for the students to answer. By doing this, I can find out their …show more content…

I want my future students to be able to work with the new technology or at least show them what it is like in the classroom. I know some schools now are allowing students to have tablets or iPads, which is good but I know other schools can’t afford it. So in cases like that, I would use what I had in the classroom or in the library. I think this works best because this allows all students to have an equal level with their peers because some children may already have a computer at home, while others can only use them at school. But as for me, I would like to have different ways to teach my students with the latest technology. For an example, I could make an interactive game that goes along with the lesson to get the students involved and to learn. I also think this shows them there are many ways to learn something because every child is
