From a very young age, my parents taught me the importance of kindness and why it is always good to give back. With such an upbringing, my desire to teach in New York City is greatly influenced by the fact that it is the city I grew up in. Having gone to school in New York, I got to learn under the best teachers and working in New York as a teacher will give me the opportunity to give back to my community and help my students the same way my teachers helped me. I am interested in teaching in a high needs school because I believe that all students deserve the best teachers. I have worked with children since I was 18 years old. The experience combined with what I learnt when I taught for two years in New York gave equipped me with the skills and competence needed to assist my students in building a better life for themselves. I have strong communication skills that make it easy to engage with my students in a way that is easy for them to understand. I am also able to communicate well with my colleagues and this will assist in helping to create a better environment for all the students. I also pride myself in developing deep knowledge for the subjects I will be required to teach. Grasping what a subject entails is important as it places me in a better position to guide the students. When the students see that I am informed on what I am teaching, they become more confident in learning as they trust that whatever I am teaching is relevant. I also try to be consistent with my teaching method which prevents students from being confused and being engaged with the lesson.
